Bolivia
Where Authentic Is Every Day.
Bolivia, a country of just over 10 million inhabitants, is a paradise for the adventure-driven explorer. With rarely explored trails and a breathtaking variety of landscapes, Bolivia offers visitors a unique opportunity to take in the pristine beauty of a country that has preserved its natural essence and traditional way of life throughout time.
La Paz, the country´s administrative capital and often the starting point for tourists visiting from abroad, offers an exceptional blend of high-rise buildings set against rugged mountains. West of the city we find the famous Lake Titicaca, the world’s highest navigable lake. Copacabana, on the lakes’ shores, is the quaint town that accesses Sun Island, one of the Inca’s holiest sites and where they believed the sun was born.
Heading further north along the country´s western border we find Rurrenabaque, the gateway to the Bolivian Amazonian rainforest, filled with wildlife and mystique. Rurrenabaque and the nearby Madidi National Park have become, in recent years, must-visit spots for adventurous travelers looking to surround themselves with the natural beauty contained within this lush region of Bolivia, so near yet so different from the Altiplano landscapes that greet visitors arriving to La Paz.
Returning south, past La Paz and heading into Potosi, the country´s mining hub, we have the opportunity to visit the Uyuni Salt Flats, the largest in the world. The beauty of this great salt desert is tough to describe to those who have never had a chance to see it for themselves. From the seemingly never-ending expanse of glassy white ground and the incredible rock formations, to the ancient volcanoes and lakes of vivid colors, the Salar is guaranteed to awe, shock, and please your senses at every turn.
The varied geography and cultures of our amazing country makes for adventures the sort of epic you can find only in the Andes. Oh, and you WILL be seeing lots of our lovely llama friends.
